WORLD: Integrated Systems Europe 2012, currently taking place at the Rai exhibition centre in Amsterdam, ended its second day on February 1st with numbers described as being at an all-time high. Rumours have also begun circulating of a fourth day being added to the show in 2013 while the Organiser is anticipating a total turn-out of approximately 40,000 visitors by the show’s close.

CHINA: The recent Beijing launch of China’s answer to Imax – dubbed the Giant Screen – used an 11.1 surround sound system comprised of models from the JBL cinema speaker range. Housed at the Beijing UME International Cinema, the Giant Screen’s audio system was supplied and installed by Harman distributor ACE.

SINGAPORE: UK-based studio and acoustic design consultancy White Mark Ltd has recently completed two audio production studios in Singapore for Hogarth Worldwide, a global advertising implementation agency. Both studios were constructed with locally-sourced materials, making them the first White Mark designed facilities in the world to be constructed entirely of teak.

JAPAN: A recent six-date tour of Japan by classic blues rock band Whitesnake saw rental company MSI Japan use a Martin Audio MLA system for front of house plus four Apex Intelli-X2 processors for signal processing. The systems were supplied by Tokyo-based distributor and fellow member of the MSI Japan Holdings group, Audiobrains.

ASIA: A recent tour of Asia by US rock band Linkin Park saw the band’s audio techs monitor vocal and guitar feeds through Aviom personal monitors. The concerts, including dates in Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore, came at the end of the band’s A Thousand Suns world tour.

THAILAND: The headquarters of Thailand’s Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) has been installed with an end-to-end IPTV communications network intended to provide it with a secure video link to educators throughout the country. Included within the install are Haivision’s Advanced Furnace IP system and Barracuda H.264 Encoders.

The new group – comprised of ‘a hand-selected team of trained and experienced rental businesses worldwide’ – is to be led by Larry Estrin as its director.

 
 

Montarbo launches into China with Elder Audio

CHINA: Italian loudspeaker manufacturer Elettronica Montarbo is set to arrive in the Chinese market as part of a collaboration with Dongguan-based Elder Audio. The relationship between the two companies will also see a new Montarbo brand launch at Frankfurt Pro Light + Sound, combining the Bologna-based company’s ‘technology and tone’ with the ‘fair pricing’ of Elder Audio’s own loudspeakers.
