ACE provides Hong Kong Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce with A/V upgrade
CHINA: Advanced Communications Equipment (ACE) recently provided the Hong Kong Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce with an upgraded A/V system, courtesy of equipment from Harman Professional and Shure.
Established in 1921, the Hong Kong Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce is cited to be the ‘oldest and the most reputable Chiu Chow business organisation in Hong Kong’. Included in its aims are to ‘promote and enhance clanship solidarity, business industry, cultural development, social service, educational advancement and salvation aid’.
So when the chamber decided to upgrade its A/V system, the Harman and Shure distributor was duly called upon to supply a solution that would meet the organisation’s needs. The focal point in the 10th floor main chamber is a stage that is used for presentations and speeches, for which Shure SLX wireless microphones are used.
A pair of JBL wall-mounted CBT50LA speakers now provide clear speech reinforcement, whilst a ceiling speaker solution comprised of four JBL Control 26 speakers and dual SB210 subwoofers powered by Crown XLS amplifiers are preferred for the background music and entertainment needs of its members – which includes karaoke. Sources include Tascam CD and cassette players, whilst live entertainment can be mixed on a Soundcraft FX16i console and further processed by way of a dbx Driverack 260.
Meanwhile, the 11th floor rooftop area has been renovated and opened for member events such as barbeques and musical entertainment. For this purpose ACE installed a weather resistant loudspeaker system consisting of four JBL AWC82 speakers powered by two Crown XLS402 amplifiers on an 8-ohm connection, with mixing performed on a Soundcraft EFX8 console.
Once again, Shure SLX wireless microphones are used for speeches and announcements. Video and loudspeaker cabling has been routed from the rooftop area to the 10th floor rack, allowing performances to be broadcast bi-directionally.
