ASLs DS 2430 and DS 3230 Speaker Stations
Dutch manufacturer ASL Intercom B.V. is now shipping 24-channel DS 2430 and 32-channel DS 3230 speaker stations for use in live production and broadcast applications.
Extending the series beyond the previously available 8- and 16-channel versions, the latest additions can also be used as in space saving rack-mountable or tabletop stations. Locally powered by a 48 V DC adaptor, many of the designed features are user programmable, offering custom configuration of the soft key functions to suit the specific requirements of each application.
Housed in compact 3U frames, both speaker stations provide communication facilities at key command locations, enabling instant ‘talk’ and ‘listen’ access to 24 or 32 respective separate user groups, which can be extended further with the DS 2040 extension panel. Signal lights are easy to recognise, for which the brightness levels can be adjusted, whilst the large controls are clearly labelled.
The DS 2430 and DS 3230 stations may be tailored to specific needs using eight ‘soft’ function keys. Selected functions are accessed in two layers using the shift key, with current functions shown in the adjacent display. Functions available include ‘call to’, ‘call to talk’, ‘speaker on/off’, ‘remote all mic kill’, ‘remote kill mic per group’, ‘remote speaker kill’, ‘remote buzzer kill’, ‘buzzer mute own station’, and ‘stage announce’. A rotary knob serves as a volume control for the intercom signal in normal operation and as an encoder in programming mode. Both rear panels incorporate D-Sub connectors for 8 GPIO connections (4 x in and 4 x out each), D-Sub for extension panel, two EtherCon connectors for Intercom in and link, two XLR-F for program input, XLR-M for audio output and a ¼-inch jack for a 1.5 x 2.5-inch loudspeaker integrated into the unit’s front panel. The keypad also facilitates PTP communications and the sending of text messages.
