Alcons Audio announces Launch Partner Program for LR24
Alcons Audio has announced the start of the Launch Partner Program for its LR24 pro-ribbon line-array system. Targeting the concert touring and large-scale installation market, the LR24 has now concluded its initial beta phase.
The LR24 mid-sized pro-ribbon line-array system is comprised of a toolbox of line-array modules, bass array modules, different subwoofer principles, a dedicated power and processing platform, power, signal and transport logistics, high-resolution simulation software and factory-direct user-network support. The manufacturer’s aim was to produce a fully coherent, linear response sound reinforcement system that could enable a 1:1 reproduction of the original sound source, regardless of sound pressure level.
‘With the Launch Partner Program, we enable a select group of users to get access to this technology at an earlier stage; these innovators will be part of the final development stage and we’re inviting those who are interested in the program to get in touch with us,’ explained Tom Back, managing director and Alcons Audio co-founder.
Due to the ‘completely neutral’ response of the system, the LR24 can be used for applications ranging from classical and jazz, to pop and rock performances. Key to its design is the inclusion of the newly developed, multiple-patented pro-ribbon transducer for the reproduction of mid- and high-frequencies. In fact, Alcons Audio purposely built the 02-platform to coincide with the system’s release.
The result is a 14-inch tall, single-diaphragm pro-ribbon with 14-inch voice-coil and combined with a number of patent-pending developments, the maximum obtainable sound pressure level is said to exceed that of compression-driver based systems. According the manufacturer, its latest offering boasts 90 per cent lower distortion.
Another crucial element of the performance of the system lies in its proprietary Sentinel amplified loudspeaker controller. This drive engine contains multiple processors, as well as four individual audiophile hi-fi amplifier stages, totalling more than 10kW of power directed by an integrated Linux microcomputer under touchscreen control.
The LR24 is part of The Ribbon Network, Alcons’ global rental network for dry-hire cooperation between members, joint product development, information exchange and factory-direct support. The complete LR24 system contains no less than six global patents and patent-applications.
