Audix announce CX Series new podium microphones and CabGrabber extension arm
Audix has unveiled the CX112B and CX212B, the most recent upgrades in the CX series of large diaphragm studio condenser microphones, and the ADX12 and ADX18 professional miniature gooseneck condenser microphones.
The manufacturer reports its new CX microphones offer improved performance, including better sound quality, lower noise floor, wider dynamic range, reduced handling and touch noise, and a more compact design. While mainly recognised as vocal studio microphones, they are also suitable for a wide variety of MI applications and ambient room miking.
Both microphones require 48V of phantom power for operation and feature a 35mm capsule and a 27.5mm gold vapor diaphragm mounted with a side-address design. The CX112B also includes a bass roll-off filter and a 10dB pad allowing for sound pressure levels of up to 145dB. The companion CX212B features a dual diaphragm design enabling multi-pattern operation (cardioid, omni-directional, and figure 8.) Additionally, the CX112 includes a bass roll-off filter to help eliminate rumble and vibration.
The ADX12 and ADX18 professional miniature gooseneck condenser microphones have been designed for applications such as podiums, presentations, meetings and teleconferencing and have a frequency range of 40-18kHz. The ADX series gooseneck system features a gold plated circuit board with preamp circuitry. While taking advantage of the latest designs in electronic surface mount components, the preamp circuit ensures that the audio path will be free from hum and noise. Additionally, the circuitry employs immunity protection from RF from mobile phones and wireless GSM devices.
The ADX 12/18 are available in both cardioid and hypercardioid polar patterns. Other features include machined aluminium and brass capsule housings, copper tubing integrated with wound flexible steel for secure and exact placement, field replaceable capsules, replaceable electronics, and a variety of optional stands and mounting accessories. Provided with a table flange mount for permanent installation, the ADX12/18 require phantom power of 9-52V and are available in a non-reflective black matte finish.
The new Boom-CG arm attaches to Audix’s CabGrabber or CabGrabber-XL to increase the number of possible miking positions. The boom arm features a steel adjustable rod that enables the CabGrabber to extend up to an additional 30cm. The Boom-CG screws on to the adjustable angled arm of the CabGrabber or CabGrabber-XL.
Audix also announced The MicroBoom is available in a 60cm length. The MicroBoom 24 carbon fiber boom arm is designed specifically for the Micros Series of miniature integrated condenser microphones. When combined with the M1250B, M1255B and M1280, the MicroBoom 24 can attach to any microphone stand or 5/8 threaded mount. When used with the Audix pedestal stand it will achieve mic heights of 60 – 106cm from the floor. Each of the three members of the Micros Series is available with either cardioid, hypercardioid, omni, and supercardioid polar patterns depending on choice of capsule.
