Bel Digital announces 16 LED meter BM-A2-E16SHD monitor and de-embedder
Bel Digital Audio’s BM-A2-E16SHD is the latest two-rack audio monitor/de-embedder offering from the manufacturer, boasting 16 individual high resolution LED bar graph meters.
The manufacturer reports that the new unit provides audio monitoring of 3G HD, and SD SDI video signals with loopthrough, whilst additionally offering Dolby E, Digital, and Digital Plus decoding.
Visual monitoring of the de-embedded audio is provided by 16 three front panel mounted bar graphs, whilst two front-panel mounted speakers provide audio monitoring and are switchable between any of the available channels. Additional audible monitoring is provided via a headphone socket located on the front panel. Bel Digital reports that the monitor can de-embed all 16 audio channels from any SDI stream due to its AES-3 outputs positioned on the rear of the unit.
The unit features two SDI inputs as well as eight AES audio pairs and eight analogue inputs. These can be switched between by using front mounted rotary controls. Using these controls, the user can reportedly monitor any channel and can create combinations and groups.
The device claims to provide auto-selection of 3G, HD and SD or SDI bitstreams and decodes as appropriate. In addition, a re-clocked SDI loopthrough and eight analogue outputs (with front panel level control) are provided.
Meanwhile, the bar graph meters are switchable between all available channels and inputs. Each meter features adjustable colour transition points and a peak-hold facility. Additionally, the ballistics are user assignable, and seven standard scales are available to choose from. These comprise; Nordic, BBC PPM, DIN PPM, VU, VU Ext., and AES/EBU.
A Dolby decoder is included, and when enabled Bel Digital reports it can decode material from any of the AES inputs, or from embedded audio data within the SDI bitstreams. This is said to be Integral Loudness metering compliant to ITU-R BS1770.
