CITES Conference uses Brähler system
THAILAND: Brähler ICS supported the recent 16th meeting of the UN Conference of the Parties (CITES CoP16) in Bangkok. Over 2,000 participants from 177 countries met to debate and consult on the international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora.
Brähler ICS has supported the event with its conference technology for many years, and this year the customer opted for the brand’s Digimic conference system with CMIC CSV delegate units with project-specific RFID technology. The two biggest conference rooms, Committee I and II, were equipped with over 600 microphone units in total.
RFID cards were used to provide delegate identification and to manage voting and speaking rights. The administration of these rights required a high level of flexibility so as to enable assignment and withdrawal of participants’ voting and speaking rights during the on-going event.
‘Although it was only the second big venue to use our Digimic system, it clearly shows that this flexible conference software and technology – though still young – is nevertheless a mature and absolutely reliable conference management system,’ said Michael Semmler, project manager at Brähler ICS.
Mr Semmler lent his support to the IUCN Congress in South Korea in 2012 and was assisted in Bangkok by his colleague Niklas Hilger.
