Delta AV Solutions opens in Dubai

UAE: The latest addition to the UAE’s systems integration scene, Delta AV Solutions, has opened its doors in Dubai. Led by contracts manager, Gareth Armstrong, the installation company is an offshoot from well-known rental house Delta Sound.

‘We were in a situation where we were getting recommended for audio install projects based on our reputation in the live market. I decided to separate this work from Delta Sound so we could look at more of the full integration rather than just the audio,’ explained Delta Sound MD, Andy Jackson. ‘AV solutions will also manage all our manufacturer distribution which include DiGiCo and L-Acoustics with more brands to follow. I am very excited about the appointment of Gareth to run the company for us. Gareth is a major player in the integration world and we all look forward for the next few months.’

‘What Delta do best is audio rental, they’re not really geared up to do integration and distribution, and that is why I have been brought in to take that completely away from Delta Sound,’ explained Mr Armstrong. ‘It’s a different office environment and different people. What they do is really extremely good. However, they are experts in what they do whereas our service is completely different and caters to a different market segment to different client expectations. We will bring the principles of Delta Sound through into a different market.’

Based in the Yes Business Center in Al Barsha, the new company established the office to create some separation from the rental house. ‘It’s AV Solutions rather than just Delta Sound Installs. On the back of that we offer a full special projects division which include the service of design, procurement, install, testing, commissioning, training, handover and aftersales support,’ said Mr Armstrong. ‘We want to try and create something that’s special and different and build on existing client relationships as well as new business within the market. The most important characteristic for us is that we provide and deliver a personal approach to delivering solutions – that is how Delta Sound has progressed so well.’

Of course, there will still be collaboration between the two companies, particularly on the audio side of installation projects. ‘We have a design manager on board, but that’s for video and control. For audio we already have all the audio technical staff as at times, we will make use of the Delta engineers to test and commission our systems,’ said Mr Armstrong. ‘Our main concern is to try and support clients. At Delta we can support clients 24/7 should something not go according to plan with their install. We also carry a lot of stock, so we can do short-term replacements if necessary as well as demos should a client request it. Not a lot of people can offer this.’

As a new company, Delta AV Solutions will initially focus purely on the Emirates. ‘Depending on how business takes off, we will see how we will progress – we don’t want to spread ourselves too thinly,’ noted the contracts manager. ‘Equally, we are only looking at certain market segments and don’t see ourselves competing on the larger scale projects or with the bigger integrators within the market.’

An important factor for the SI is it will not focus on one brand when it comes to bidding for projects. ‘With integration you can’t only focus on one brand – if a client wants X, Y and Z you need to give them X, Y and Z. If a client doesn’t know what they want, we can obviously try and advise them. However, all designs are based around the budgets of clients.’

With the company officially launched, it has been a busy first few months for Mr Armstrong and the Delta AV Solutions team. ‘Our first three months have been fairly successful as we are currently busy on a few special projects which we have won already. Based on our outlook, approach and existing clientele we are looking forward to a great 2015.’
