Digital Precision Systems to manage Clear-Com Asian service centre

ASIA: US-based intercom specialist Clear-Com has entered into an agreement with Hong Kong-based Digital Precision Systems to operate a service centre for its Asian clients.

‘The more Clear-Com users we were building up in the region, and the more systems and products we sold, the more we recognised the need for a service centre here,’ explained Edmund Song, Clear-Com’s regional sales manager for South East Asia. ‘This offers our clients the ability to send faulty equipment to be repaired with a fast turnaround compared to sending them all the way back to the US. It also saves on freight costs.’

DPS was an obvious choice to operate Clear-Com’s service centre, having represented the brand in Hong Kong for many years. ‘Technically, they are very knowledgeable about our systems – executive and technical director Charles Wong has 30 years of experience in this line, and they also have a well equipped service centre where they service other audio and non-audio products,’ continued Mr Song. ‘When a repair is required, we’ll put the users in touch with DPS to send the equipment to Hong Kong. The team will diagnose the fault, replace it on a board and component level, test it, repackage it and send it back. The team is fully capable of carrying out small repairs right through to a full product service.’

Mr Wong added: ‘Hong Kong is a good choice of location for setting up the service centre; it’s a duty free port at the centre of Asia, and we have the advantage of being able to source components directly from the factories in China. We also represent Clear-Com products so we know the technology of the systems very well. We’ve installed many systems so we can provide system advice and support.’

DPS employs a team of four to handle its Clear-Com work, which extends to products in and out of warranty. Members of the team have travelled to Germany for service training, and the centre carries a large inventory of spare parts and components as well as complete product manuals and schematic diagrams.
