Dynaudio Professional goes to mkIII with BM range
Originally launched 15 years ago and a mainstay of studios ever since, Dynaudio Professional’s BM range has been upgraded to its third iteration, appropriately named the mkIII. The news arrives as the TC Group brand also launches its Air Control software for Mac, PC and Windows-based tablets, allowing the fine-tuning of Air monitoring systems.
Described as the ‘next step in the evolution’ of the BM range, the mkIII upgrade includes the smaller BM Compact mkIII and BM5 mkIII models, both of which feature expanded frequency response and SPL courtesy of improved driver designs and the inclusion of Class-D amplifiers. Both enclosures also boast an auto-standby mode as well as XLR and RCA inputs for improved flexibility. Meanwhile, the BM6 mkIII and BM12 mkIII have been re-voiced and now include the manufacturer’s proprietary wave guide. Both of the BMS II subwoofers have also been optimised to compliment the new range.
Notably, thanks to a recently announced relationship between Dynaudio Professional and US-based stand manufacturer IsoAcoustics, the BM mkIII monitors now also come complete with isolation stands that eliminate the transfer of acoustic energy to surrounding surfaces. The BM Compact mkIII and BM5 mkIII come with an ISO-L8R 155 stand, while the BM6 mkIII and BM12 mkIII come with ISO-L8R 200 stand. Other available accessories include a Volume Box for the BM Compact mkIII, the TC Level Pilot for BM6 mk III and BM12 mkIII, and the TC Electronic BMC-2 Monitor Controller.
Elsewhere, the manufacturer’s Air control, configuration and installation software has been released as a free download, promising ‘complete editing, saving and preset-based recall of room adaptation DSP, precise timing and SPL calibration, bass management and monitor control in Air systems configurations spanning 2.0 to 7.1’.
Suitable for Mac, PC and Windows-based tablets, the software replaces the manufacturer’s original ‘TC PC-IP’ installer software.
