Feng Chia University looks to Mipro
TAIWAN: Mipro CEO KC Chang, together with six R&D engineers, recently undertook a tour of Feng Chia University in central Taiwan. As an industry partner to the institution, the manufacturer has installed its wireless PA system into more than 350 classrooms.
The university hosts an Electro-Acoustics programme aiming to foster domestic talent. Through the course the dean and professors have been devoted to building strong collaboration with the audio industry, and as a result invited the manufacturer to become its industry partner for equipment investment and talent cultivation. This led to the provision of MA-101ACT systems in almost all classrooms.
The wireless PA system, which has been primarily designed for classroom-like environments, has 97 built-in individual frequency bands and is designed to allow each teacher to carry their own personal microphone from classroom to classroom. However this still was not enough to cover the entire campus.
‘Interference is the most important issue,’ explained Mipro sound engineer, Daniel Ku. ‘A total of 350 classrooms were distributed over several college departments, so we made a frequency plan dividing 350 sets of MA-101ACT into several groups to share 97 frequencies. We installed the systems which shared frequency bands far apart in different buildings to avoid interference.’
During the visit the engineers we keen to find out how the implemented frequency plan had been functioning in the real world. After discussions with various dean and professors using the system on a daily basis, they were glad to hear that the end result was ‘total satisfaction’.
