First Baptist Dallas uses Barco projection for new centre
WORLD: A/V systems integrators, Burst and Clair Brothers recently created an innovative visualisation platform based around products from Barco for First Baptist Dallas’ brand new worship centre. Reported to be one of the largest church A/V presentation installs in the US, the HOW now boasts a 142’-inch multi-curved screen complete with edge-blended panoramic video programming and image magnification, driven by seven Barco large venue projectors.
‘Burst was chosen by First Baptist Dallas to integrate the sanctuary video production and projection systems,’ explained Robin Heywood, president of Burst. ‘The systems contribute to the congregations’ experience of services via the large projection screen, which provides stunning HD video. Barco’s projectors beautifully produce every frame of video and have been completely reliable.’
Not only did First Baptist Dallas require an A/V solution to enhance its religious programs, but one that was sizable enough for viewing by its 3,000 member congregation. Relying on the product and integration expertise of both Burst and Clair Brothers, the church outfitted the new sanctuary with the 142-inch screen, fed by Barco’s HDF-W22 large venue projectors. Ten HD video cameras are placed throughout the centre to capture all the program elements for image magnification on the central screen in addition to original video and graphic content.
‘We’ve worked with Barco projectors on numerous event stages, and really value them for their excellent brightness and contrast in ambient lighting situations, as well as their ease of integration,’ commented Seth Morth of Clair Brothers. ‘They definitely give our customers a high-performance projector for less cost than other alternatives on the market.’
‘The projection sub-system presented many challenges in terms of logistics, engineering and installation,’ added Robin Heywood, president of Burst. ‘Barco delivered their products on time, met the budget, worked out of the box and continue to make each service a memorable event.’
In addition to the projectors for the main worship centre sanctuary, First Baptist Dallas installed an HDF-W22 projector at the adjacent event centre as well as 11 RLM-W8 projectors for the Youth Centre’s classrooms and meeting spaces.
‘We are very excited to be partnering with Barco on this very unusual installation,’ commented Bryan Bailey, director of media and production of First Baptist Dallas. ‘The consistency and quality of the projectors has really calmed many of our concerns about blending and warping seven images. Perhaps most importantly, the impressive customer service provides much needed confidence in the middle of a truly unique application.’
‘We understand that today’s houses of worship are investing in innovative programming to visually support their religious services and Barco projectors are tailor-made for their creative as well as infrastructure needs,’ furthered Scott Stremple, vice president sales, venues and hospitality for Barco North America. ‘We’re committed to serving their wide range of presentation with innovative and cost-effective pro A/V solutions.’
