First Denon showcase in Singapore deemed a success
SINGAPORE: Tae Ho Kim, president of sales and marketing for Asia Pacific at D&M Holdings Inc has branded a recent Denon showcase in Singapore a success, adding that ‘the number of attendees was really impressive and we had an overwhelming response’. The event marked the first time the manufacturer had held a product showcase in the city-state, and was the first in a series of future product launches.
‘D&M Holdings decided on a strategy shift in 2011 to pursue growth in the relatively new product categories, such as headphones, dock speakers and sound bars,’ explained Mr Kim. ‘This was the first year this change in strategy materialised as new products, along with the marketing emphasis necessary to make a difference in these categories. Singapore is an important market for us and a key territory to kick off the new series of products coming in the next few years,’ he explained.
During the showcase, attendees were given a brief introduction to the Denon brand, and were then introduced to the manufacturer’s new line up of headphones and speaker docks. The new headphones previewed comprised the Music Maniac, Urban Raver, Globe Cruiser and Exercise Freak models, whilst the Cocoon Family – Denon’s first foray into the speaker dock market – was also showcased.
‘It was well attended and the media showed a keen interest in our lifestyle headphones and dock speakers,’ enthused Mr Kim. ‘We had a good mix of media representatives ranging from the trade, interior, lifestyle and entertainment sectors from both web and print publications. They seemed pleasantly surprised at Denon’s new direction, both in terms of product concepts and design. We received a lot of positive feedback following the event,’ he added.
Commenting on the importance of publicising the brand in Singapore, Mr Kim furthered: ‘Singapore has been and will remain a key market for Asia. The globally connected, multi-cultural and cosmopolitan city-state offers an excellent environment where business can test new products and services. We position Singapore as a market that helps us understand what we need to succeed in the greater Asian marketplace.’
Mr Kim added that there are further upcoming events planned for ‘key countries all over the world, and we will be planning another showcase in Singapore for the next major launch next year’.
