Harman India opens new service centre in Mumbai
INDIA: Harman Professional India has appointed TASS Services as the authorised Harman service centre (AHSC) for the western region. A separate area of the TASS Services’ 2,000 square foot premises in Mumbai will be dedicated to Harman’s professional range, including JBL, BSS, Crown, dbx, Lexicon, Soundcraft and Studer.
Since its inception in 2010, Harman India has operated a full service centre in Bangalore, where the company is headquartered. This will continue to provide service and customer support for the southern region of the country as well as assisting all the AHSCs in trouble shooting, component level repair and spare part supplies.
‘With Mumbai being the nerve centre for the pro audio industry in India, this was a logical addition to the company-owned and operated centre in Bangalore,’ said David McKinney, senior director, India operations, Harman Professional. ‘The appointment of TASS as our first authorised service centre is an example of Harman’s strong commitment to provide the best service and support network to our customers, delivering high levels of service while adhering to Harman-set service benchmarks. Next month we’ll be opening a new service centre in Delhi to serve the north, and within three months we’ll open one in Calcutta to handle the east. This is the start of our journey forward to ensure we have service and after sales support across the whole of India. It’s also in line with what we’re doing in sales – we’ve got a much bigger sales channel, more customers and we’re creating more vertical market strategies.’
TASS currently employs a team of 22 service and support staff. Joining them is Wilfrid Fernandes, senior service engineer, who has been with Harman Professional India since its inception and worked on the Commonwealth Games opening and closing ceremonies in Delhi. He will head up a team of dedicated engineers for Harman products. ‘The service centre is equipped with well trained technicians, testing equipment, spare parts and a good ambience,’ said Ganesh Kumar, Harman India’s service manager. ‘The service personnel of TASS will be constantly trained by Harman technical staff and specialists to keep updated with the latest technological advancements across all ranges.’
Added Sethumadhavan Sekharan Nair, director of TASS Services, ‘This appointment further consolidates our position as a leading A/V services provider, drawing on our expertise, location and the technical capabilities of our service personnel. We are proud to be associated with Harman and look forward to a successful partnership.’
The new service centre, located close to some of Mumbai’s largest rental companies, will provide customers with turnaround times of a few hours compared with having to ship products to Bangalore for service and repair.
The move follows Harman Professional India’s takeover of its own pan-Indian distribution in July.
