Idea Pro Audio reveals initial product line-up

Published:

Newly founded Spanish manufacturer Idea Pro Audio has revealed its first salvo of products, comprising four separate ranges covering a variety of sectors. The company – which publicly launched during the Pro Light & Sound 2014 exhibition (as reported in the May-June 2014 issue of Pro Audio Asia) – is also promising more additions to its catalogue within the coming months.

First on the list is the three-strong, compact LUA Series, which is intended for audio playback in mobile, A/V and small portable sound reinforcement systems or distributed installs. It comprises the 5-inch, 200W LUA5, described as offering ‘outstanding power density’, the 10-inch, 200W LUA10 and the 15-inch, 200W LUA15, both of which reportedly deliver ‘truly useful deep LF reproduction’. All models within the range are passive, two-way designs integrating proprietary 1.75-inch HF assemblies and Swiss-made crossover boards.

Aimed at portable and touring applications, meanwhile, is the larger EXO Series, which equally targets high-power installs. Described as multi-purpose tools capable of performing as well at front of house as on stage as monitors, four speakers make up the range.

The trapezoidal EXO10 is a 400W, passive, two-way enclosure with a 10-inch woofer, a 1.75-inch HF section, a frequency response of 62Hz to 18kHz and a peak SPL rating of 121/127dB at 1m. Similarly, the wedge-shaped EXO12 and EXO15 cabinets offer 12-inch and 15-inch woofers respectively, again with 3-inch HF sections, power ratings of 500W and 600W, peak SPLs of 122/128dB at 1m and 127/133dB at 1m, and frequency responses of 75Hz to 18kHz and 60Hz to 18kHz. The trapezoidal EXO18, meanwhile, is described by the manufacturer as a three-way, bi-amp ‘FOH in a box’, boasting an 18-inch woofer, a 12-inch mid-range section and 3-inch tweeter. Rated at 1,250W + 550W, the enclosure reportedly delivers 130/136dB at 1m, with a frequency response of 46Hz to 18kHz.

Next is the VOA Series of line array enclosures, presented as suitable for applications as diverse as ‘one-man shows to stadium rock’. Aimed at the mid-range rental market, the speakers have been designed for simple configuration, deployment and operation. Three configurations are available in the shape of the two-way, bi-amp, 8-inch VOA8, the three-way, tri-amp VOA16 and the double 12-inch VOA24 four-way, quad-amp full touring system. All of the boxes include proprietary HF waveguides and rigging, are factory pre-configured with the manufacturer’s DSP, and will soon be supported by EASE Focus.

Finally, the BASSO Series of subwoofers offers four models. The 750W 12-inch BASSO12 incorporates a symmetrical air mass design with a 12-inch woofer and delivers 126/132dB at 1m and a frequency response of 48Hz to 100Hz. The BASSO21 is based on a bass reflex design with a 21-inch woofer, 1,000W output, a peak SPL rating of 131/137dB at 1m and a frequency response of 30Hz to 85Hz. The BASSO24 comprises a dual 12-inch construction within a symmetrical air mass enclosure, delivering 1,500W into 4-ohms, 129/135dB at 1m and a frequency response of 48Hz to 100Hz. Finally, the BASSO2121 is, as its name suggests, a double 21-inch sub in a bass reflex design delivering 3,000W into 4-ohms, a peak SPL of 137/143dB at 1m and a frequency response of 42Hz to 100Hz. Both the BASSO21 and BASSO2121 also offer infra capabilities and can be integrated with other subs from the range for greater LF extension.

Alongside its loudspeaker ranges, Idea Pro Audio has also previewed DSP and amplification solutions as part of its TEO series, which will soon be added to with the 4-channel TEO5 amplifier and the TEOd8 8x8 DSP matrix and loudspeaker management controller. More enclosures are also on the way including a dedicated install range, MI-oriented portable cabs, and new subwoofers, multi-purpose enclosures and line arrays.
