JBL makes paging horn debut
Marking the first time that JBL has entered the commercial sound paging horn market, the Harman Professional brand has debuted the 15W CSS-H15 and 30W CSS-H30, describing them as ‘ideal for public address, announcement, intercom, security, alarm and industrial applications’.
The CSS-H paging horns represent the continuation of JBL’s ambitions within the commercial sound market, joining a broad range of products targeted primarily at systems integrators. Features include ABS construction with stainless steel mounting brackets and hardware, a built in UL-registered multi-tap transformer (15W for the H15, 30W for the H30) for use with 70V and 100V distributed speaker lines, and a bypass position for direct 8-ohm operation. The horns are also IP-65 rated for outdoor applications.
Staying with the manufacturer’s Commercial Series, a new wide-bandwidth ceiling speaker and a new pendant speaker have been added to the Control line. The Control45C/T is a coaxial two-way ceiling speaker offering 120-degrees broadband pattern control via the manufacturer’s conical Radiation Boundary Integrator (RBI) technology. The unit’s 5.25-inch woofer is made from a polypropylene cone. The coaxially mounted 0.75-inch soft dome tweeter features ferro-fluid cooling, which reportedly increases power handling and reduces compression.
The new pendant enclosure to be added to the Control line is the 60PS/T pendant subwoofer. The unit features a built-in passive 125Hz crossover for up to four satellites and 150W power handling from its 8-inch low-frequency driver (polypropylene coasted for humidity protection) and 2-inch voice coil. A 100W multi-tap, wide-bandwidth transformer allows the enclosure to be used on either a 70/100V distributed loudspeaker system or as a direct 8-ohm impedance speaker. A loop out connector is provided to transport the full-range signal to other speakers/satellite systems.
Also newly added to the manufacturer’s commercial range are two high-humidity grilles for its Control 10 series ceiling speakers. Named the MTC-14WG and MTC-16WG, the grilles fit the Control 12C/T, 14C/T, 16C/T, 26C and 26CT. Constructed out of a non-rusting aluminium alloy with a power coat, both models are available in either white or black. Additionally, the manufacturer has recently announced that its Commercial Series amplifiers, and mixer-amplifiers have earned the Energy Star label.
Moving away from the commercial series, EON610 and EON612 models have been added to JBL’s portable PA series. Joining the EON615, the EON610 is a 10-inch two-way speaker and the EON612 a 12-inch two-way loudspeaker. Both models feature a built-in 1,000W amp, custom high- and low-frequency drivers and ‘special fluting designed to guide the frequencies through the full range of the system’.
