Symetrix unveiled the Jupiter line of installed sound DSP products at InfoComm 2010, with the turnkey audio processing platform drawing inspiration from the "apps" paradigm of smart phones such as Apple's iPhone.

Jupiter hardware is available in three versions differing only in their input/output counts, whilst Jupiter software apps transform what would be generic hardware into highly specific audio engines for operations such as paging, auto mixing and loudspeaker management. The free software used to configure Jupiter hardware runs on a Windows operating system. Within the main application shell a user selects the desired app and the selected apps main screen presents a view of the overall the signal flow and processing modules. Clicking on a module reveals a concise graphic representation of the audio processing designed to be easily understood. Jupiter apps are built from an extensive library of signal processors including gain sharing and gating auto-mixers, matrix mixers, feedback fighters, ambient SPL computers and filters (including FIR).

The Jupiter hardware configurations match up with specific system input/output requirements, so that Jupiter 4 is four in and four out; Jupiter 8 is eight in and eight out; while Jupiter 12 provides 12 inputs and four outputs. All inputs are software selectable for line- or mic-levels with phantom power. Supported external controllers include Symetrix ARC wall panels, binary or analogue control voltage inputs and outputs, together with IP control of virtually all app parameters.

Symetrix has also upgraded the software supporting the Zone Mix 760 fixed-architecture DSP Symnet system. In addition to numerous features that speed and simplify programming for system integrators including copy and paste, graphical EQ response shaping and enhancements to storing presets, the software upgrade includes features such as site file storage and improved network connections. The Washington State manufacturer offers an extensive line of ARC wall panel controllers, whilst also allowing third-party control integration.
