K-Array provides dual-purpose audio for Café Zoe
INDIA: Following its transformation from a foundry into a café, Café Zoe in the Mathuradas Mill Compound in Mumbai’s Lower Parel district required a new audio system to accommodate its daily live music schedule. Audio installer Seven Point One was enlisted recently to provide a ‘strong and robust’ system capable of being run for upwards of 18 hours, one that would provide clear, ambient audio for diners during the day before being converted into a live system for DJs and live bands at night. According to the installer, the ‘challenge was to ensure the system did not include ground stacking or bulky speakers which would cause visual disruption, yet be sleek and hidden to maintain Café Zoe’s unique aesthetics’.
‘Being an integrator and a designer, I work with a lot of pro audio and install companies,’ explained Seven Point One owner, Zeus Unwalla. ‘For this project, I was the sole integrator and had my choice of systems. There was no better system to use here than K-Array.’
Suspended from a high beam, the Italian manufacturer’s KK100 Kobra loudspeakers provide primary coverage along with a pair of KL18 subwoofers, both powered by a KA7 amplifier. Selected for their compact size, K-array KT20MA point source speakers were deployed to cover the mezzanine.
‘There was no easy access to the points and we needed something that could take the heavy usage,’ recalled Mr Unwalla. ‘K-Array was chosen as it could deliver the kind of quality and power required at this venue at the correct cost.’
