Martin Pro ships new Viper
Martin Professional is now shipping a new luminaire in its MAC Viper Family of moving heads, the MAC Viper AirFX. The MAC Viper AirFX combines hard-edge, mid-air effects and a wash field in one luminaire. It features the same form, speed, light quality and colours as the other members of the MAC Viper Family.
Capable of projecting a dense, hard-edge beam with mid-air aerial effects, the MAC Viper AirFX’s optical system allows it to adjust from a beam to a wash instantly. It uses the same 1,000W HID source as the other Viper Family luminaires, and outputs nearly 35,000 lumens.
The MAC Viper AirFX houses a selection of aerial effects on two gobo wheels – a rotating gobo wheel with five replaceable designs and a fixed gobo wheel with seven replaceable designs. Hard-edge effects reportedly hold focus through the fixture’s entire 11- to 59-degrees zoom range and at varying throws. Beam gobos can adjust along the entire zoom range, and according to the manufacturer, light output is constant throughout the entire zoom range with no visible beam jump from tight to wide.
The CMY colour mixing system offers a palette including reds, ambers, green and blues with an added choice from a seven-slot colour wheel. A linear CTO provides daylight to tungsten CCT control and expansion of the CMY palette.
The MAC Viper AirFX uses a 160mm PC lens for a distinctive fat beam look. Beams can be manipulated using the combined dimmer/shutter system with intensity effects for instant blackout or smooth fades all the way to blackout. Additional effects are possible from the iris with adjustable dynamic effects as well as a frost that can snap or fade-in for wash effects. Strobe effects are also possible.
Also new is Martin Pro’s VC-Strip family of narrow LED video strips. These have been designed for the integration of video into stage and set designs, interiors, and custom set elements, and feature the same technology as Martin’s VC-Grids.
VC-Strips are fully pixel-level calibrated on brightness and colours and are driven by Martin Pro’s P3 System Controller family. The VC-Strips are available in various lengths, and can even be cut to the required length on-site.
A final release from the Harman-owned manufacturer is the version 3.0.0 software for its family of P3 System Controllers for LED screens and creative video. Support for Martin’s VC-Series of creative LED video products (VC-Grid, VC-Strip and VC-Dot) driven by the P3 PowerPort 1500 has now been integrated and the Video Input section has been improved.
The Video Input Wizard now adjusts all scaling and viewport settings by itself and the preview on the P3’s screen is now rendered when no fixtures are connected. Many more features and improvements such as automatic resolution detection, a Highlight Fixture and Mixed Resolution Layout Wizard are making their debut.
