Metallica and Clair Brothers rock Jakarta
INDONESIA: Electro Production recently supplied a substantial Clair Brothers sound reinforcement system for a Metallica concert in Jakarta.
In total, 32 i218-M large format line arrays were deployed as the main left and right system with 16 iS218-M flown subwoofers. Twenty-eight i218-Ms were used for left and right out-fill, a further 36 iS218-Ms were deployed as ground subs, and eight ML18 stage monitors served as centre ground subs. Eight R2D-M high output loudspeakers provided front-fill, and powering the system were 50 PLM 20K amplifiers at a total of 200 channels at 4,400w at 4-ohm. No delays were used in the design.
‘The setup of the system went very smoothly, as the Electro Production team is very confident with system setup and the designs we need to achieve coverage for these large scale concerts,’ said Wayne Grosser, managing director, Clair Brothers Australia.
‘The system design delivered an even coverage and very high broadband SPL throughout the stadium and the 60,0000 fans,’ he added. ‘The FOH position was at 45m and we were peaking 117db continuously. As the system engineer for the concert, I found the i218-M performance and sonic quality to be very impressive at a high continuous SPL. A true professional, ‘big Mick’ did a great job mixing Metallica and the band rocked on!’
