New TT+ enclosures emerge from RCF
With the addition of the T1-A, T2-A, T5-A and TP-5A active, digitally powered and processed speakers, Reggio Emilia-based manufacturer RCF has now nearly completed its TT+ High Definition range.
Purpose-designed, the new transducers include a 4-inch voice coil compression driver with titanium dome, a Kapton former and surround, together with a 15-inch / 4-inch coil, providing longer excursion than on previous designs. The high efficiency Class-D digital amplifiers also provide greater power than previous designs, whilst offering DSP inputs. The enclosure incorporates a separate chamber, shock mounted for isolation from the vibration of the amplifier. The TT1-A is a 10-inch two-way speaker, which is one of two new nearfield models. Designed as mid-field speakers, the TT2-A and TT5-A speakers incorporate the new 4-inch coil compression driver, providing greater projection up to 40m, for which the TTP5-A provides a single point source solution.
The TT+ series’ on-board DSP enables the EQ and other system parameters to be configured. The trapezoidal-shaped cabinets include mounting accessories to the rear, allowing them to be mechanically coupled into clusters to provide central image array in a typical L/C/R theatre installation. Each element provides 22.5-degrees to 60-degrees horizontal dispersion, so that a cluster of four can provide 60-degree x 90-degree coverage. The new models are compliant with RCF’s RDNet protocol, monitoring all system parameters. RDNet is an RS485 protocol communication system, comprising two separate controllers: Control 8 and Control 2 (covering eight groups and two groups of 32 speakers respectively in a daisy-chain).
Also new and designed for commercial audio applications, RCF is now shipping the AX 8042 digital matrix-mixer and automixer. The single 1U device is based on a powerful DSP platform which contains eight universal mic-line inputs with selectable 48V phantom power on detachable Euroblock connectors and six outputs. Four of the outputs are balanced on detachable Euroblock terminals and are included in the audio matrix whilst the remaining two are available as RCA plugs that can be separately processed and combined to any of the previous four.
Due to the available processing power many audio parameters can be set, such as parametric equalisation, gates, compressors, limiters, delays, ducking, priorities, automatic level and gain control, auto-mixer functions and filters. Furthermore, two virtual units with four inputs and three outputs each can be created within the AX 8042, with each section working with its own programmed auto-mixing facility if necessary.
The AX 8042 can receive 10 logic inputs and send six logic outputs, two of which are supported by relay. Both logic inputs and outputs are available on detachable Euroblock terminals and are configurable together with other parameters using the control software installed on a PC, via the USB connector. The serial control port on the Euroblock terminal can function with the RCF TS 9918 configurable / programmable touch sensitive flat remote control, and is compatible with third-party systems such as Crestron and AMX. Up to eight TS 9918 remotes can be connected to the AX 8042, and be individually addressed and programmed.
RJ 45 In / Out digital ports on the rear panel allow two AX 8042 to be linked, creating a 16-input/12-output matrix, whilst another slot allows integration of an RCF RD-NET module to enable control of RD-NET networking devices. Up to 12 BM 3003 paging microphones can be daisy-chained to the dedicated RJ 45 connector, while each of the three buttons can be configured to page zones or groups of zones. The consoles are interlocked on the same audio line and report in-use and busy indications while fault monitoring feedback can be set via the fail-safe GPO relay. LED indicators on the front panel provide I/O activity feedback, along with serial communication ports link and GPI-GPO enabling.
