Phonic moves into digital mixing
Despite its appearance as an intuitive analogue interface, the IS16 is Phonic’s first foray into digital mixing.
The 16-input channel mixer combines a set of XLR and ¼-inch inputs on each channel with flexible output possibilities through ¼-inch multi-outputs and XLR main and control room outputs. Delay, EQ and dynamics are found on all input and output channels, whilst digital AES/EBU inputs and outputs are also included allowing connection to external digital consoles via wired or wireless LAN networks.
A 31-band graphic equaliser is available on the DFX processor for complete refinement of main signals, whilst an integrated VGA output connector allows all functions to be viewed on a PC. The USB/FireWire interface allows PC and Mac connectivity through USB 2.0 and FireWire connections.
Equipped with built-in EQs, dynamics, delays, digital effects, signal generator and a meter bridge, the IS16 can be used either as a live sound or stage/in-ear monitor mixer. Digital effects include EFX1 with 24 extra reverbs, pre-delay, low frequency oscillation, reverb density, intensity, feedback gain and modulation frequency. EFX1 includes a 31-band EQ whilst EFX2 features a 15-band EQ. Scenes can be saved direct t DE cards, whilst all of the 16 channels can be soloed through the Control Room menu.
