PreSonus releases iPad mixer control app
PreSonus has released a dedicated wireless control software for its small-format digital consoles: StudioLive Remote software for the Apple iPad.
The manufacturer reports its new app offers wireless remote control of any PreSonus StudioLive-series digital mixer’s channels, auxes, effects, subs, and Fat Channel processors. It achieves this by providing direct wireless control over PreSonus Virtual StudioLive software for Mac and Windows, which in turn controls the StudioLive mixer.
StudioLive Remote is a true iPad app, not a port. It provides multiple views of the key StudioLive mixer controls. The Overview displays the most-used parameters, such as channel levels, mutes, panning, EQ curves, and more for multiple channels at once. Users can click for a close-up view of Fat Channel processing, and navigate between gate, compressor, EQ. The Aux view shows the levels, panning, and Fat Channel processing for the Aux sends and internal FX buses. The GEQ view lets users adjust the graphic EQ. Finally, in Portrait position and users can scroll through the channels and buses to see every parameter up close.
The manufacturer has also announced that its Studio One Pro 1.6.1 and Studio One Artist 1.6.1 are now available. Version 1.6.1 features included added Japanese language support, split channel option for Keyboard devices, when renaming events, numbers can be added automatically, the normalise function now normalises to -0.1 dB.
With the new release, PreSonus has also adjusted the process handling that could create CPU spikes with other host programs or plug-ins. Other areas that have been fixed with the latest release include: parameters from different instruments could not be dragged onto the same automation track, real-time mixdown could create crackles on some systems, MPK49 device transport controls were not working and the manufacturer also removed encoders from mixer pan for easier Control Link assignment.
Other aspects that have been fixed for this release include: a fixed redraw bug in the instrument rack, loading a Studio One 1.5 song with Pipeline disabled crashed the program, Delay Compensation was not working correctly for channels using a sidechain input, audio recording delay after changing buffer size and restarting, and improved auto-punch with loop recording enabled. For Mac OS X: Edit box navigation for Channel names and Track names not working, dialog buttons (OK, Cancel, etc.) could not be triggered using the Space or Return keys on keyboard, removal of a Song folder when the Song is closed without saving was not working if any audio tracks were armed. Also fixed by the manufacturer, in Sample One: the LFO-sync drop-down menu not working, in Pipeline: the Return scope not working with 4KB buffer size, in Presence: crackle at certain amplitude-envelope settings, and for Mojito: hanging notes.
