Prosound takes on Audio-Technica
SOUTH AFRICA: Prosound has become the new exclusive South African distributor for Audio-Technica. The company will distribute the full range of Audio-Technica’s professional audio products into its key markets: commercial install, recording, MI / DJ, pro audio, broadcast and conference.
Prosound believes the manufacturer’s products have ‘a lot to offer’ the South African market. ‘I think they are a company that is keeping on top of technology, and there’s a lot of new stuff coming out all the time, which is what we want,’ said Prosound’s Grant Scott. ‘You always want to be able to show something new to somebody not just something repackaged in a different colour box.’
‘We are very pleased to have Prosound as our new South African distributor,’ said Matthias Exner, business development director EMEA of Audio-Technica. ‘They have a long history of success within the industry and solid relationships with customers. Audio-Technica’s commitment on delivering excellence in its products is shared by Prosound, and we are excited to have them representing Audio-Technica’s professional products in South Africa. Prosound, is known as the most efficient distribution company in Sub-Saharan Africa.’
‘We are extremely delighted to become a member of the Audio-Technica family, and the opportunities this partnership provides us,’ added Terry Acres, chairman of Prosound. ‘The addition of Audio-Technica as a leading manufacturer in microphones and headphones to our portfolio will enable us to serve our client base even more efficiently by providing leading brands for the complete signal chain.’
The distributor has already shown off the range of products from the manufacturer at the recent Mediatech Africa show in Johannesburg. A highlight of this was a spectacular performance from Dan Patlansky to help celebrate Prosound’s 40th anniversary which was miked entirely by Audio-Technica.
In other news, the distributor has also taken on the De Sisti range of lighting equipment for South Africa.
