RH Consulting explores the rise of audio networking
WORLD: A new whitepaper entitled The Death of Analogue and The Rise of Audio Networking has been produced by RH Consulting. Commissioned by Audinate, the report investigates the number of networked products currently available on the market, the growth rate for various networking protocols and the market forces driving their increased adoption. The findings highlight the recent rapid adoption of Dante in the market, with the number of Dante-equipped products forecast to grow 130 per cent by 2016.
‘This whitepaper is the most comprehensive analysis of the audio networking market to date,’ enthused RH Consulting’s principal audio consultant, Roland Hemming. ‘Rather than just focus on technical differences, our goal was to provide a deep dive from the overall market perspective. We analysed the products that are really shipping and the factors that are driving the growth, or lack thereof, of the various protocols.
‘Audio networking is following the same pattern as most new technology,’ continued Mr Hemming. ‘The success of Dante is consistent with easy-to-use, end-to-end solutions driving the market when technology is in the early growth phase. Over time, networking has become less about specifying a protocol and more about specifying products that work together.’
