SLS covers DoT Awards Night
UAE: SLS Production recently provided technical support for the sound, stage, projection, LED and lighting for the Department of Transport Awards Night in Abu Dhabi. The event, which celebrated long-serving employees, featured films, presentations and live music.
The main PA consisted of two flown JBL Vertec VT4888 arrays made up of four cabinets each. These elements were rigged with 15-degree inner facing offsets at an 8m trim in order to supply an even horizontal and vertical sound coverage to the main VIP tables that housed the first 25m of the venue. Additional low frequency support came courtesy of two ground-stacked clusters of two VT4880 sub elements.
Two lines of delay were used to achieve an even coverage to the rear of the venue. Six Nexo PS15s were truss flown to compliment the main PA. The first truss comprised of four boxes and a further two boxes were rigged on the back truss to slightly augment the narrow entrance to the room. Delay compensation was added to the Nexo delay lines to create continuum in effect. The event was mixed on a Yamaha LS9 console and SLS also provided a two-language translation system with 160 headsets.
On the visual side, a large 19m x 5m Absen A-6 movable LED screen was installed on tracks so it could split in the middle to reveal a further central projection screen. Content was fired onto this courtesy of Christie 12K HD rear projection system.
Lighting for the event saw SLS put to use products from Clay Paky, Cyclops, ETC and Arri.
Ben Spencer was the SLS Sound Engineer for the event, while production director Mr Hamza was there to supervise the three-day production set-up and managed the show during the event.
