Safety first for eclipse
UAE: A group of 21 staff from across the eclipse Group has recently gone through a five-day training course covering safe rigging practices. The course was held in the new addition to the eclipse warehouse space in DIP.
The training was led by Rinus Bakker, consultant and trainer at Rhino Rigs. Aside from running safety in rigging courses, Rhino Rigs was closely involved in drafting the NPR 8020-14 and the CWA 15 902 regulations in Europe.
'As standardising the processes and methods of safe rigging practices is the Dutch company's core value, and given their experience in the industry, it was a clear decision to include them in our strategy to further promote safe working conditions,' said group COO, Simon Ransom.
The 'Introduction to Entertainment Rigging' course covered theoretical and practical rigging know-how including theory, risks and risk analysis, material handling, maintenance and inspection, bridle and force calculations and hands-on techniques. On completion of the final examination, participants received certification which is recognised by the global industry as proof of competence.
'We have a dedicated team who are committed to maintaining and improving our safety standards, and with this added certification our customers can rely on us to deliver a quality service which exceeds the industry standards,' concluded Mr Ransom.
