Second ‘Be Electro-Voiced’ winner announced
ASIA: Electro-Voice has named the second winner in its Pro Audio Asia-sponsored Be Electro-Voiced contest as Hariz & Lincoln, an acoustic duo hailing from Singapore. The pair, who impressed judges with an online video of original song Just Believe, have won an endorsement with EV plus a microphone and a chance of winning the grand prize of a full loudspeaker system.
Singaporean students Hariz Maloy and Lincoln Lim, 19 and 18 respectively, met during their study at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Music has reportedly always played an important role in their lives – at the age of 10 Hariz Maloy performed in his first musical while Lincoln Lim has composed the theme song for a local Singaporean charity named Project Happy Feet.
As Hariz & Lincoln they have already participated in 987FM’s The Next Big Thing contest and performed at venues including TAB and The Esplanade Waterfront.
The pair were enthusiastic following their win. ‘As young musicians, getting equipment and sponsors is difficult. With EV, we found an opportunity so we decided to take it,’ explained Mr Maloy, while Mr Lim added: ‘We just wanted to see what would happen! We didn’t expect anything, so I’m utterly surprised and happy that we won.’
The Be Electro-Voiced contest is continuing online with new winners announced every two months and EV is seeking up and coming singers or bands to showcase their talents in front of a panel of Electro-Voice judges. To enter, contestants need only upload a video of a performance to the Electro-Voice Facebook page which can be found here.
