Seoul’s Lotte Cinema World Tower immersed in Christie
KOREA: The newly opened, 21-auditorium Lotte Cinema World Tower in Seoul has been installed with a wealth of audiovisual solutions from Christie, including the manufacturer’s Vive Audio cinema sound system. The project was undertaken in conjunction with Eugenetek Corporation and has been described by Lotte’s executive director, Gwan Ro Lee, as offering ‘the best and the most lifelike visual and sensory cinematic experience for all movie patrons in Korea’.
Located within the Lotte World Mall, the Lotte Cinema World Tower has been recognised as the largest multiplex in Asia, encompassing more than 4,600 seats. Each of the theatres is located on its own floor boasting a uniquely themed interior design, while the 21st auditorium currently holds the Guinness World Record for the largest permanently installed 35mm cinema screen in the world, measuring 34m by 13.8m. Additionally, the complex is home to the largest 4D theatre in the country.
Within the auditoriums are Christie’s flagship Solaria Series projectors (including the Solaria CP2215, CP2220, CP2230 and CP4230), ACT digital cinema theatre control and the manufacturer’s Integrated Media Block (IMB). Meanwhile, seven of the theatres have been fitted with Vive Audio surround sound solutions, five of which are configured for Dolby Atmos.
‘Lotte Cinema World Tower is one of the biggest projects that we have ever embarked on and we are thankful to be given this opportunity to be involved in this major installation,’ enthused Eugenetek president Joon-Ho Lee. ‘We have worked closely with the team from Christie throughout this project and are proud to present the best-quality picture and sound to the audience.’
Lin Yu, vice president of Christie Asia Pacific, was equally enthusiastic. ‘Christie is honoured to work with Lotte Cinemas to have our most advanced and comprehensive range of cinema solutions installed in all the auditoriums of Asia’s largest multiplex. Lotte Cinema World Tower is certainly one of the world’s premier cinema destinations and we are proud to be a major part of this project.’
