Shenzhen Bay Stadium concert uses TW Audio Vera36
CHINA: A TW Audio sound reinforcement system based on the German manufacturer’s recently launched Vera36 line array was recently used for The Singer Returned, a major concert staged at Shenzhen Bay Stadium in Guangdong. Attracting an audience of more than 30,000 people, the event starred some of China’s best known singers including Huang Qishan, known internationally as Susan Huang and often described as ‘the number one female voice in Asia’.
The TW Audio system was selected for the concert following an intensive selection process, with rental company Beijing Haizhao Lighting & Audio Equipments Co Ltd ultimately winning the contract to provide technical services. TW Audio’s own Augustine Edward also lent support with system tuning.
The front of house solution comprised two left and right hangs of 12 Vera36 cabinets, with four T24 enclosures used for front-fills and three L24 and 10 Vera10 elements deployed for out-fills. Additional low-end was delivered via 20 B30 and four BSX subwoofers. Elsewhere in the venue, meanwhile, four delay towers each boasted hangs of six Vera10 elements and eight B30 subs. The entire system was driven by 28 Powersoft K3DSP amplifiers.
Manning the front of house position at the concert was sound engineer Hunter Huang, who was reportedly thrilled with the system’s performance. ‘At first I was more than sceptical as to whether the compact Vera36 could produce the amount of SPL needed for an venue of this size,’ he commented. ‘But when the system technician said he was ready and played a few songs, I was blown away. I’d use this system for mixing again any time if I had the chance. In my experience, this is one of the best PAs out there.’
