Show Technology deploys full rig for C3 Presence Conference
AUSTRALIA: C3 Presence Conference is an annual worship event held over three days and four nights in Sydney. Taking place at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, this year’s conference relied upon a complete lighting rig from Show Technology. The lighting equipment was supplied through Chameleon Touring and the video equipment through Big Picture. Chameleon’s Greg Yates was also tasked as technical director for the conference.
C3 Church members and other churchgoers locally, across the nation and abroad, gather in the heart of Sydney for the worship conference. Founded by Pastors Phil and Chris Pringle, who formed the global C3 Church movement, the conference is growing significantly every year.
The Show Technology rig deployed for the event included 14 Martin Mac Viper Profile, eight Viper Performance, 24 Clay Paky Mythos, 12 Sharpy Wash, 18 Sharpy and 46 Mac Aura fixtures. The control system consisted of three MA consoles – a single Grand MA2 Fullsize and two Grand MA2 Lites. Additional MA Lighting equipment included a single Video Processing Unit (VPU) and three Network Processing Units (NPU).
Jonathan Lucas and Ben Jordan of LucasLX were responsible for the lighting design and media programming respectively. The pair were keen to try out the VPU, and so Show Technology’s Mike Gearin looked after the initial set up and demos of the VPU and MA Network to make sure Mr Lucas’ production design could be carried out effectively. According to Mr Gearin: ‘Catering for three large upstage screens and 30 universes of pixel mapping, the VPU has not skipped a beat!’
‘I took on an abstract approach for this year’s production design to compliment the theme There Is A River, which was set in the mountains of Iceland through the use of shapes and angles,’ explained Mr Lucas. ‘The backdrop comprised of various screens, angled trusses and 100 custom-made LED strips in 2m to 2.5m lengths which were pixel mapped through a MA VPU. Four overhead diamond trusses hanging on an outwards angle were filled with Martin LC Panel, with groups of lights strategically placed to compliment the theme.’
