Snell aims for the mid-range with Kahuna Flare
Offering 1080p standard functionality, the Kahuna Flare production switcher from Snell has been launched for the mid-range of the market, described by the manufacturer as the ‘first mid-range switcher to offer standard single-link 1080p support alongside SD and HD formats at no extra cost’.
The 6RU production switcher is intended for over-the-air broadcasting, IP-based applications or internet delivery platforms as well as large progressive-screen presentations. Options are available ranging from two ME to four ME, with four keyers per ME and two channels of 3D DVE.
Other features include 48 inputs and 24 outputs with the option to upgrade to 60 inputs and 32 outputs, plus the manufacturer’s FormatFusion3 technology for versatility across multiple signal formats for varied distribution requirements.
Also using FormatFusion3 is the newly revamped Kahuna 360 multi-format switcher. The technology means that the switcher supports a mix of SD, HD, 1080p and now 4K. As a result, the switcher can accept incoming 4K UHDTV feeds, mix them with 1080p and output as either 4K UHDTV or 1080p.
