Soundcraft launches Si Compact Series

Soundcraft launches Si Compact Series

Published:

The new Soundcraft Si Compact Series is a range of digital consoles aimed at tour sound, corporate events, houses of worship and theatre applications, amongst others.

The new Si Compact features digital mixing facilities along with Lexicon effects into a trio of small footprint consoles available in 16, 24 or 32 mic/line input formats, with 4 stereo returns.

With full DSP functionality courtesy of EMMA Lite built-in, the Si Compact provides up to 40 inputs to mix in 3 frame sizes, the smallest of which is also rack-mountable. Motorised faders with patented Soundcraft FaderGlow operate on two layers, and there is a full encoder set for all the functions on a channel, from input gain through EQ and dynamics to bus controls. It features four separate Lexicon FX processors with dedicated FX busses in addition to the main mixes, and BSS Graphic EQ for every bus, 16 line outputs plus AES, an option card slot for Madi or other connectivity, a Global Mode for instant access to Pan, Gain and Filters, a colour touchscreen interface and FaderGlow.

The manufactuer has also added to its Si Series of mid-range digital consoles with the new version 4.0 software development. Key features include support for the new Soundcraft Compact Stagebox and Studer D21m I/O; Si Consoles can now connect to Vi Stageboxes and control the mic amps; support for a wide range of new option and expansion cards; Virtual Si (offline editor) allows configuration of virtual racks.

The new Compact Stagebox for Vi and Si consoles offers 32 mic/line inputs, eight line outputs, eight channels of AES/EBU outputs and two expansion slots for standard Studer D21m I/O cards. The D21m is the I/O architecture for Studer as well as Soundcraft digital mixing systems and allows connection to most popular digital formats, including CobraNet, Aviom A-Net16, Ethersound Adat and RockNet. A Madi recording interface can also be fitted to the expansion slots.

The Compact Stagebox is connected to the host console using either Cat-5 or Optical-fibre Madi, the same way as the larger 64 Mic/line Vi6 Stagebox is hooked up, and shares the same redundant Madi cable capability.

The Compact Stagebox also uses the same Mic/line I/O modules as found in the Soundcraft Vi1 console, and as a result it is possible to move or share modules between console and Stagebox, should a different configuration of I/O be required. The unit comes complete with twin redundant power supplies, thermostatically-controlled fan cooling and full LED status monitoring. An 8ch GPIO interface is also provided.
