Star Electronics installs FBT throughout Bang Bon Sports Complex
THAILAND: FBT's Thai distributor, Star Electronic Sales & Service Co Ltd, has recently completed an audio installation project at Bang Bon Sports Complex in Bangkok. Star Electronic’s engineering team designed the system in partnership with the Bangkok Metropolitan Agency’s (BMB) Department for Culture and Sport, with the main aim of providing clear sound covering all areas, and matching the landscape of the surroundings.
‘This complex forms the first sports related project that the BMB has built for young people and the residents of Bangkok, giving them the ability to exercise on the outskirts of Bangkok,’ explained Saengchai Chavanaittinant, senior vice president of marketing for Star Electronic.
The project was quite extensive, and the original survey and design phase took the team four months to complete. Another four months were then also set aside for installation and testing.
In the outdoor swimming area a spectator stand flanks one side of the pool. Attached to the roof of this are a total of 14 FBT Shadow series speakers, eight 108CT’s facing down into the stand and six 112CT’s focused at the far side of the pool. Two Jolly5ra loudspeakers provided additional fill, and three Kemton KA802 amps, three Symbol 12000 amps, and two FBT DLM26 speaker management systems provided power and processing.
A simpler setup was installed into the Gymnasium, with sound reinforcement courtesy of 12 Shadow108ct speakers, wall-mounted and evenly distributed around the perimeter of the hall, with two Joll5ra’s for additional fill. The system is powered by four Kemton KA802 amps with DSP from two DLM26.
Star Electronics also installed a new system at the complex’s football pitch, opting to fly two hangs of four Shadow 142L line array elements each facing out across the pitch. A further four 112CT’s were mounted to the stand roof for the spectators, and four 112HC and two Jollya5ra speakers were positioned to fill in coverage. Eight Shadow 142L subwoofers provided low-end reinforcement, and power was via four Symbol 18000 and four Symbol 12000 amps. DSP comes from two DLM26 processors.
‘The BMB are planning to build more sport complexes in other areas of Bangkok later this year and we will propose the installation of FBT equipment in these venue as well, since the quality of FBT sound has proved to be satisfactorily for BMB’s management,’ added Mr Chavanaittinant.
