The Rooftop opts for Lambda Labs
QATAR: The Rooftop bar at the St Regis hotel in Doha has been equipped with 36 black and white Lambda Labs loudspeakers. The system design and installation for the bar was handled by Portuguese pro audio company, Auditiv.
‘The task was clear right from the start. The Rooftop was to be seamlessly integrated into the uncompromising concept of the St Regis chain of hotels,’ recalled Auditive founder Miguel Escada. ‘The supreme rule, from Bora-Bora to New York, is consistent quality. This is why for The Rooftop in Doha a renowned Lebanese designer was engaged who would do justice to the visual demands. The F&B manager, Marco Syrbe, comes from Germany, and he wanted to guarantee that guests as well as artists would be provided with a unique experience. The operators wanted a perfect sound solution.
‘The installation had to maintain a highly even sound distribution across the entire listening and dancing area, especially in the low frequency range. Added to this it had to possess a precisely reflected stereo signal with an excellent and also very even impulse response and it had to be weather-proof,’ continued Mr Escada. ‘At night the bar turns into a nightclub and it calls for very high SPLs. All of this had to be realised in a visually appealing fashion, like the one I was able to find with Lambda Labs.’
Auditiv installed 14 of the manufacturer’s white MF-15A to create a 40m horizontal line source and provide the entire rooftop with bass. Eight black and white TX-2A installed on either side of the terrace take over at 100Hz to cover the mid and high frequencies. The speakers have been mounted at the top of the bar and pole mounted at the same level on the opposite side above the glass front.
The six VIP lounges situated on the left and right hand side of The Rooftop are covered by the MF-15A line source and coupled with two wide dispersion CX-1A loudspeakers. Completing the installation, the DJ booth has been equipped with the manufacturer’s CX-3A stereo monitors.
