Theatreplan expands team in Asia

Published: ASIA

ASIA: Theatre consultancy practice, Theatreplan, has expanded its team at its newly opened offices in Hong Kong and Sydney. Project manager, Paul Connolly, has moved from his post in London to manage the Hong Kong office alongside Robin Auld and new project liaison officer, Ellen Young. In Australia, Bosco Tan has joined the Sydney team, working alongside director of Theatreplan Pty Ltd, Brad Maiden. The company has also launched a new website to reflect its expansion into new territories.

Mr Connolly will take responsibility for business development and marketing at the Hong Kong office, and will support Mr Auld on Theatreplan’s West Kowloon Cultural District project, among others. ‘It’s an exciting time for Theatreplan Hong Kong. We are working on two prestigious building projects, have moved into a new office in East Kowloon, and are currently speaking with a number of local architects about new project opportunities,’ commented Mr Connolly. ‘We’re also delighted to welcome Ellen Young on board. In addition to her strong musical background and administrative capabilities, Ellen – who was born in Taiwan – is a bilingual English and Mandarin speaker with extensive experience of Chinese culture. She will be an extremely valuable asset to the team in Hong Kong.’

Assuming the position of director at Theatreplan Pty Ltd, Mr Tan joins the Sydney team from technology integration company, Rutledge AV, having spent the last 10 years working on the design, implementation and management of major cultural, government and commercial projects.

Mr Maiden, who also recently joined Theatreplan from his position as technology projects manager at the Sydney Opera House, is delighted to have Mr Tan on the team. ‘It’s an honour and a privilege to be working with Theatreplan,’ said Mr Maiden. ‘I’ve always enjoyed their innovation, focus on real-client collaboration and commitment to excellence in all areas of theatre technology design and auditorium planning. I am also pretty excited to welcome Bosco Tan to the Theatreplan Australia team. Bosco and I have previously designed and delivered several major projects together and are looking forward to continuing our excellent collaboration under the Theatreplan Australia banner and supporting the Hong Kong team.’
