Waves Audio promises fast and fun mixing with OneKnob plugins

Published:

Waves Audio has announced its new OneKnob series, a set of seven plugins, each of which provides a particular effect controlled by a single knob.

The ‘easy to use’ plugins are described as suited for control rooms, DJ booths and mixing live shows, reportedly eliminating the need to tweak detailed parameters.

Included in the series is the OneKnob Brighter, OneKnob Phatter, OneKnob Filter, OneKnob Pressure, OneKnob Louder, OneKnob Driver and OneKnob Wetter. According to Waves Audio, when hooked up to a hardware controller, ‘mixing has never been this fast or this much fun’.

Starting with the OneKnob Brighter, this is described by the manufacturer as an ‘intelligent’ treble booster that adds brightness from the mid-high range up, reportedly ‘perfect for brightening up a track or making it cut through the mix’. The OneKnob Phatter, meanwhile, is a bass booster that provides a quick way to add bottom, weight and body to bass, keys, kick drums and vocals. The ‘powerful’ OneKnob Filter
is a sweepable filter with switchable resonance modes, making it suitable for full mixes, loops, and analogue synths.

Next there is the OneKnob Pressure, described as a ‘versatile’ dynamics processor suited for percussive sources like loops and drum busses. The OneKnob Louder
uses a combination of peak limiting and low-level compression with automatic makeup to makes tracks louder, reportedly increasing RMS by up to 24dB.

Inspired by famous guitar overdrive pedals, the OneKnob Driver is reportedly capable of everything from light overdrive to full-on distortion. Finally, the OneKnob Wetter is designed to add instant depth to a track.
