Wohler announces enhanced systems
Wohler Technologies has released functional and operational enhancements to its flagship AMP2-E16V audio/video processing monitor.
The new AMP2-E16V version 5 features a new automation configuration menu and hot keys that allow the unit to recall presets automatically based on a predefined set of conditions. In addition to new automation and channel-cluster configuration options, version 5 now offers support for both Dolby and SMPTE 2020 metadata-based downmixing, more specific status window descriptors, and remote setup and software update options via Ethernet connection.
The AMP2-E16V features dual 4.3-inch OLED displays that support dedicated video monitoring, metadata monitoring, loudness metering, audio routing and mix controls, and Dolby Zoom functions. In addition to enabling simultaneous multiformat monitoring for up to 16 channels of 3G/HD/SD-SDI, AES, analogue, or Toslink inputs in any combination, the system enables concurrent loudness monitoring and complete mixing and routing freedom.
Already capable of providing monitoring of SMPTE 2020 and Dolby audio signals, the AMP2-E16V now can use either Dolby metadata or SMPTE 2020 metadata to set the centre and surround downmix levels. The system further automates operations through a new AutoSet button on the channel-cluster configuration screen. A click to the new button triggers the unit to name and arrange channel clusters automatically, based upon output selections in the monitor configuration menu.
The version 5 update is available as an upgrade to all current AMP2-16V and AMP2-E16V owners and comes standard on all new AMP2-16V and AMP2-E16V units being shipped.
A second upgrade from Wohler is with a series of enhancements to its Pandora loudness monitoring and logging system.
Pandora now allows users to monitor, analyse, and demonstrate audio loudness levels on an iPad or iPod touch. Additional updates to Pandora facilitate capture, storage, and email delivery of loudness log files; enable more comprehensive measurement of loudness metrics; and support more flexible configuration of the monitoring system.
The new Wohler Loudness application for the Pandora system gives iPad and iPod touch users the ability to demonstrate Pandora’s monitoring and analysis of audio loudness levels from stereo on up to eight channels extracted from either an SDI input or four AES embedded pairs. When the application is in Demo mode, features can be demonstrated on an iPod touch or iPad. Standards covered include ATSC A/85 (ITU BS.1770 and ITU BS.1771), EBU R128, and ARIB TR-B32.
Additional capabilities of the new Pandora software release include logging with the ability to send log files via email, a feature that allows engineers to document, deliver, and demonstrate loudness readings. Wohler also has enhanced Pandora with added readings for true peak, loudness range (LRA), average and maximum loudness, as well as with over/under indications.
