A Major Cineplex installation for Christie’s CP42LH

THAILAND: Thailand’s largest cinema chain, Major Cineplex, has installed the country’s first Christie RGB laser projection system at its flagship theatre, Paragon Cineplex in Bangkok. The system, formed from a CP42LH 3DLP 4K RGB laser projector, connected to a laser rack containing eight laser modules over fibre, was integrated in the Siam Pavalai auditorium, which is reportedly the largest in Thailand with a 23m screen and 1,096 seats.

‘We are proud to be the first exhibitor in Thailand to offer this brand new cinema technology for our guests to enjoy a movie experience like no other,’ said Major Cineplex group chairman Vicha Poolvaraluk. ‘By introducing Christie’s cutting-edge RGB laser projector to our flagship multiplex, we are taking the immersive cinema experience to the next level and I’m sure our customers will appreciate what’s in store for them.’

The CP42LH features the manufacturer’s enhanced wavelength diversification (EWD) technology, while the connected laser modules emit white light from several RGB primary colour wavelength combinations to deliver 3D images. The system generates 40,000 lumens. The scalability of the platform allows for up to 12 laser modules to be added, which would result in 60,000 lumens, should extra brightness be required.

‘The cinematic presentation delivered by our CP42LH with EWD at Paragon Cineplex will not only captivate movie-goers, but will also provide confidence to cinema exhibitors in terms of performance and reliability,’ stated Christie Singapore general manager Han Kim. ‘We’re very pleased that Major Cineplex has placed its trust in our award-winning RGB laser projection system, which has effectively demonstrated how 3D light levels, colour fidelity, image uniformity, viewing comfort and a sense of immersion can be greatly improved.’
