AIMS gains Leader
WORLD: Leader Electronics Corporation is the latest company to join AIMS (the Alliance for IP Media Solutions). AIMS, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting industry standards and products for the transmission of video, audio and ancillary information over an IP infrastructure, recently established a Japanese subgroup to ensure that its aim was relayed to manufacturers in the country. Leader, established in Tokyo in 1954, produces electronic measuring instruments.
‘The television industry is in fast transition as it embraces higher display resolution standards such as 4K, higher dynamic range, wider colour gamut and the increasing use of IP,’ said Leader's European business development manager, Kevin Salvidge. ‘Joining AIMS demonstrates Leader's continued commitment to providing the industry's technical managers, content producers and post-production creatives with all the facilities they need to operate successfully in an increasingly multi-standard world. We are allowing broadcasters to migrate from the traditional SDI world to the brave new IP world at their own pace, with test and measurement products that operate in either or both environments.’
In other news, AIMS has also confirmed Artel Video Systems, BFE Studio und Medien Systeme, Meinberg and Pebble Beach Systems s new members.
‘More and more companies around the world are realising the benefits of collaborating on a single set of standards-based IP protocols,’ said Michael Cronk, AIMS board chair. ‘The continual growth of AIMS membership increases momentum in the drive towards ubiquity and the implementation of practical solutions that enable the migration to all IP workflows.’
