ArKaos visits South Africa
SOUTH AFRICA: ArKaos founder Marco Hinic and projector coordinator, technical sales Benjamin Bauwens recently visited South Africa for the first time to meet with clients in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town as well as to host a training seminar at the Johannesburg offices of DWR Distribution. DWR serves as the VJ, media server and LED mapping software developer’s distributor in the country.
‘We counted 22 companies that we visited together,’ recalled Mr Hinic. ‘When creating new versions of our software we always start from the perspective of the user and we believe in regularly inviting users in when designing new tools. In our world, it’s very easy to be overwhelmed by technology and that’s why we spent a week in South Africa.
‘We could not have had such a successful training seminar without the dedication of the DWR team,’ furthered Mr Hinic. ‘We were very impressed by their professionalism and enjoyed meaningful dialogue with them. We’ve taken DWR’s feedback to heart and will give priority to features that will better assist them and are excited to see what the next steps are in continuing to collaborate.’
The training seminar was reportedly deemed a success, with a strong attendance ‘During trainings such as this one, we can validate our approach. For example, we had a mix of Macs and Windows laptops and everybody could follow the examples we were showing and quickly start mixing and mapping video,’ noted Mr Bauwens. ‘We truly enjoy seeing the new users’ surprised expressions when they are able to manipulate videos relatively quickly and start having fun with it. Within a day, we covered a large range of subjects and it’s pretty motivating for the delegates to leave with the tools they need to get started installed on their personal machines.’
‘Although we have worked remotely with DWR for a few years now, it was our first physical contact with South Africa,’ concluded Mr Hinic. ‘We were overwhelmed by the warm welcome from everyone. I was thrilled I could take a day at the end of the trip to explore the beauty of Cape Town. All we can think of now is when can we plan to come back. Connecting to the users in South Africa was very special.’
