Australian Rugby Union signs Crestron

Published: ASIA

AUSTRALIA: The Australian Rugby Union (ARU) has signed a deal with Crestron which sees the control and automation systems manufacturer server as the organisation’s official enterprise technology partner for the next two years. The partnership runs until 2019 and encompasses any new installation projects for the ARU or Australia’s national rugby team, the Wallabies.

Kicking off the partnership is the development of ARU’s new headquarters at Moore Park, Sydney. Named the Australian Rugby Development Centre, the facility is due to open towards the end of the year and will serve as a training base for the Qantas Wallabies, Buildcorp Wallaroos, Qantas Australian Men’s and Women’s Sevens and the junior representative teams, while also providing state-of-the-art offices for the ARU administration. Crestron will provie digital media, unified communications, wireless presentation and intelligent meeting room systems.

‘With the support of Crestron, our new Australian Rugby Development Centre is set to greatly enhance the sustainability and success of Australian rugby,’ said Kevin Stafford, head of technology at the ARU. ‘It provides a new home for Australian Rugby in a terrific sporting precinct.’

Crestron Asia Pacific CEO Stuart Craig commented on the partnership: ‘We are proud to be selected for the long-term partnership following a competitive tender, and are very much looking forward to kicking goals on the projects that lie ahead,’ he quipped. ‘The Australian Rugby Development Centre is set to be a truly incredible facility, and we will be working to ensure the state-of-the-art property is matched with best-of-breed, seamless and easy-to-use technology.’
