AVIA recognises TDC for its work at Vivid Sydney
AUSTRALIA: Technical Direction Company (TDC) has been awarded a Judge’s Commendation in the Best Application of A/V in a Production category at the 2016 Audio Visual Industry Awards (AVIA) for the video expertise it provided at Vivid Sydney. The awards recognise best practice, innovation and excellence across the A/V industry globally.
Having worked on the Vivid Sydney event multiple times, TDC undertook 11 months of research and development for this year’s festival, working with clients, creative agencies and international artists to provide 11,500 sq-m of video projection with 120 million pixels, using 70 projectors. In addition, eight sites with custom made projection towers were built and 35 full-time staff members were needed for production.
As part of its offerings at Vivid Sydney, TDC collaborated with Spinifex and Huwaei to provide a large format video projection at Customs House, developing video to work with multiviewer augmented reality activation that combines tablet technology. Also as part of the festival, TDC mapped the Jaguar F-PACE SUV video projection that displayed images on the multifaceted surface of the vehicles geometry.
