d&b solves reverb issues at Buddha Memorial Center
TAIWAN: Topsound Co Ltd recently installed a d&b audiotechnik sound reinforcement system into the Buddha Memorial Center in Taiwan in order to solve the building’s reverberation problems.
The centre consists of a welcoming hall, eight Chinese-styled pagodas that stand for the Noble Eightfold Path, a photo terrace, the Bodhi square, the memorial hall, four stupas that symbolise The Four Noble Truths and the Fo Guang Buddha.
‘The Buddha Memorial Center is a three-story building and the ground multifunctional hall, the Grand Enlightenment Auditorium, covers around 660 sq-m,’ said Master Miao Zhi. ‘As there was a serious reverb time problem, we needed to install sound-absorbing materials. It was not an easy task for us to find a system that could meet our requirements – as we need to host a wide variety of activities and events such as seminars, conferences and concerts in the hall. Luckily, Mr Liu from Topsound Co Ltd recommended that we try d&b audiotechnik, and it works!’ he enthused.
Before choosing the d&b solution, Master Miao Zhi attended a number of demonstrations from various manufacturers before making the decision. The system that was chosen was designed by d&b China’s Alex Poon whilst d&b China’s technical director, Chiwai Chan provided the final tuning.
‘With d&b's simple, convenient and user friendly R70 remote network – which helps us operate the 16 Qi7 loudspeakers and four Qi-Subs on the truss – the audiences on different floors can enjoy and experience the activities now,’ commented Mr Miao Zhi.
The Buddha Memorial Center was also equipped with various MAX12 stage monitors and E8 loudspeakers for mobile and front-fill use. ‘I would like to thank d&b for its delicate PA system,’ said Mr Miao Zhi.
