Focusrite offers stereo monitoring via Dante
The RedNet AM2 stereo audio monitoring unit from Focusrite combines headphone and line outputs for monitoring of signals sourced from the Dante network. This latest addition to the manufacturer’s range of Dante audio-over-IP products features a two-channel Dante receiver based around Ultimo hardware.
In terms of connections, the unit offers a ¼-inch front-panel headphone socket plus a pair of balanced line outputs with male XLR connectors mounted on the rear panel. The headphone output delivers what the manufacturer describes as ‘significant audio output power’, reportedly sufficient to drive high-impedance headphones at substantial levels.
AM2 offers two large volume control knobs for headphone and line output levels; the latter also features a mute button with associated LED. Other indicators show the presence of power, network and signal. It can be powered either via PoE (Power over Ethernet) or via the 12V DC input barrel connector (universal power supply included). Dual EtherCon connectors are included to connect the network and to daisy-chain AM2 to additional network devices. The aluminium extrusion-based enclosure fitted with non-slip feet, is designed to either sit securely on a flat surface or be mounted on top of a mic stand using a standard threaded bush in the base.
In other Focusrite news, the manufacturer has announced an agreement with Softube that several of its interfaces are now shipping with the Softube Time and Tone bundle. Time and Tone includes three plugins - TSAR-1R, Tube Delay and Saturation Knob.
