Growth leads to expanded HQ at Adamson

Published: WORLD

WORLD: Adamson Systems Engineering has recently undergone an expansion of its Canadian headquarters. The extension to the 3,716 sq-m site in Port Perry, Ontario comes following a reported ‘three years of rapid growth’ that has resulted in increased demand from the manufacturer’s sales network.

While the expansion is dedicated to the company’s manufacturing and R&D departments, the existing facility has seen renovations made in the research, product development and education areas. Adamson has also reportedly invested in machinery and manufacturing technologies, such as new CNC routers, milling machines and semi-automated production lines.

‘This significant investment in infrastructure positions Adamson to continue manufacturing all components and key technologies in Canada,’ explained Brock Adamson, president and CEO of Adamson. ‘Vertical onsite integration, from raw iron to finished loudspeakers, allows our engineering teams to prototype real world products faster and deliver products that are not limited in performance through priorities set by third party suppliers. The elimination of outsourcing ensures the protection of our intellectual property and maintains the secrecy surrounding certain proprietary manufacturing processes.’

‘Our sales have grown more than 40 per cent year-over-year since 2014,’ said James Oliver, director of marketing and sales. ‘We had an obligation to our network to both expand our production capacity and increase the speed in which we bring new products to market.’

The three-year growth doesn’t just account for sales, as Adamson has seen a sharp rise in staff to handle the demand. ‘Our company has quadrupled its number of engineers over the past three years,’ noted director of research and development, Benoit Cabot. ‘When you’re going through rapid growth as we are, you end up putting people wherever you can find space. Our new labs allow for an incredibly productive and collaborative environment.’
