Hardrock hits Baku
AZERBAIJAN: The latest addition to the Hardrock Café chain of music-themed restaurants has opened its doors in Baku. The new Fountain Square venue has an audio and lighting system drawing heavily from the Harman Professional portfolio.
The solution itself was designed by Turkish distributor, SF Sound and Lighting, and installed by sister company and local systems integrator, ProAV. ‘After our work for the installation of the Hardrock Café in İstanbul, we are very happy to integrate a range of Harman’s professional audio and lighting systems in the Hardrock Café Baku,’ said SF CTO and partner, Ferhan Kayral. ‘We especially thank our partner Elshan Aliyev, the managing director ProAV LLC, who fixed the deal with the client and integrated the systems with us.’
SF designed separate systems for the background and foreground music. The BGM solution called on JBL’s AE Compact Series with AC 15, AC 16 and AC 18 cabinets installed throughout the café. These are powered by Crown amplifiers and with BSS audio processors providing the processing. ‘The client’s focus was on the architectural design,’ noted Mr Kayral. ‘They didn’t want the speakers to attract attention, but the sound performance still needed to be good. That’s why we have used the AE Compact Series from JBL. These small, nice sounding boxes perform really well with all types of music.’
With the BGM taken care of, SF turned its attention to the larger foreground solution. ‘We supplied a complete PA from JBL VTX speakers to Soundcraft digital mixers, and from AKG DSR 800 series wireless and instrument mics to JBL SRX series monitor speakers which the client can use in many of their live events,’ recalled Mr Kayral. ‘They have uncompromised sound quality from the JBL VTX F15 as the FOH PA with VTX F18 subs under the stage. They are using VTX F12s as side-fills and delays all driven by Crown IT HD 4x3500 amplifiers.’
The lighting side of the project saw SF draw on Harman’s Martin Professional stable of elements, with various moving head fixtures flown above the stage.
The ProAV team were on site for nearly three weeks for the installation. It was a smooth process without any major challenges due to the skill of ProAV’s ‘experienced and well trained team’.
Reflecting on the completed project, Mr Kayral is satisfied with the end result. ‘The client is very pleased with the installed technology and the performance,’ he concluded. ‘And we are very happy to add another highly prestigious project in our portfolio.’
