ILEA’s Middle East chapter names new president

Published: MEA

UAE: Lee Charteris has been elected as the new president of the Middle East chapter of International Live Events Association (ILEA). Mr Charteris is the serving vice president of operations at Flash Entertainment in Abu Dhabi and will be tasked with growing the Middle East chapter to bring across further international business opportunities from within the organisation over the next 12 months.

‘I am honoured to be elected the president of ILEA ME for 2016/2017,’ said Mr Charteris. ‘I promise to lead and represent this association the best I can for the coming year.’

Mr Charteris’ new role will also see him continue to drive the awareness of health and safety across the region, providing educational opportunities and best practices at events held throughout the year. This continues the work of former president, Rebecca Wilson.

‘I am proud to have served as president of ILEA ME. It’s been hard work, but hugely rewarding and I really feel that we have strengthened our focus on promoting professionalism and best practice, and providing a knowledge sharing platform for members and the industry,’ said Ms Wilson. ‘Our chapter has grown in size and credibility, and we have a great board and members, all benefiting from the trust and friendships that an association like ILEA affords them. After two years I am excited to hand the reigns over to Lee and his new board who I know will carry on the good work and take the chapter to the next level.’

‘I would like to recognise all board members, advisors and committee members for their continued time and efforts, all voluntary, on behalf of the association to make this rapidly-growing chapter a beacon of best practice and shared knowledge,’ concluded Mr Charteris. ‘I ask that we come together as an industry so we can become an even stronger voice, can lobby for change where needed, and be a go-to for all those who need inspired, impartial and professional advice at every level from the individual right up to government.’
