InfoComm explores classroom tech at HKU

HONG KONG: InfoComm is exploring the future of audiovisual classroom technology on 23 May with the return of the InfoComm Campus Programme to Hong Kong. Taking place on the HKU campus, the one-day programme is intended for professionals who interact with classroom audiovisual technology, including A/V technology and IT managers, facility managers, as well as academics and teachers interested in integrating A/V technology to enhance student learning.

‘Technology has been transforming the classroom experience around the world,’ said Jonathan Seller, senior director of development, Asia Pacific, InfoComm International. ‘In Asia, although we’ve seen a greater appreciation for the role of A/V in enhanced learning, there is still immense potential to make the user experience more seamless and to create better AV/IT convergence. InfoComm on Campus addresses these important questions while promoting a shared understanding of how classroom A/V technology can make learning more effective and engaging. This programme is a must for those driving this change, and we’re proud to work with HKU to bring this to Asia.’

Speakers at the event include professors Rick Glofcheski at HKU and Paul Lam at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, as well as representatives from Academy of Performing Arts, Queensland University of Technology, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The main topics of classroom video conferencing, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), supporting digital literacy in education and location-based collaborations will be explored through presentations, roundtable discussions and networking.

‘I think anyone supporting teaching and learning – whether working on frontline services in a technical role or as a manager – can benefit from this event on a number of levels,’ said Antoinette Kelly, associate director for Learning Services, HKU. ‘We are aiming for each attendee to learn at least one new thing or walk away with a great new idea to implement.’
