Lower Control and expanded Intellivox from JBL
JBL has created a new dual 10-inch subwoofer for fixed installations in the compact form factor of the Control SB2210. Designed to complement the recently updated Control Contractor surface-mount 23-1, 25-1 and 28-1 models, the power capacity for the Control SB2210 has been increased to 500W.
The subwoofer also features a flatter frequency response with bass extension to 38Hz. The new 10-inch drivers’ woven fibre-glass cones feature a damped butyl rubber surround and linear suspension spider that reportedly enhance low distortion. The weather resistant cabinet is available in black, white or paintable colours and can be floor, wall or ceiling mounted using an optional U-bracket, or suspended via 13 included M6 insert points.
Meanwhile, the HP-DS170 column array is expanding the Intellivox beam shaping loudspeaker series, and has been designed for use in challenging acoustic environments. Featuring built-in amplification, onboard DSP and Digital Directivity Synthesis (DDS) technology, the HP-DS170 is an IP55-rated speaker reportedly capable of maintaining an even SPL of 106dB across an audience area of up to 30m in length.
The unit’s customised 6.5-inch loudspeakers are powered by a built-in multichannel Class-D amplifier with a switched mode power supply, whilst surveillance operations are enabled courtesy of RS-485 connectivity. Furthermore, DDS beam shaping technology allows for a room-specific coverage pattern that offers continuous near-field to far-field SPL and frequency response without the use of multiple beams. The beam shape can be adjusted using WinControl software, providing control of the beam steering parameters, audio processing and surveillance features.
